The Electrical Power Systems Enhancement and Improvement Program funding will be used to optimize the generation mix, improve asset productivity, and provide more sustainable, reliable, and cost-effective energy for the U.S. Virgin Islands. The program aims to reduce the Territory’s dependence on oil and propane by supporting projects that replace existing conventional generator units with advanced, high-efficiency technologies or build new capacity using advanced technologies. These projects may also contribute to improved air quality for communities near power generation plants and decrease overall emissions into the atmosphere.
